Thorpe Thewles Site Manager wins his first pride in the job award from NHBC
Thorpe Paddocks site manager has been chosen from thousands of candidates as one of the best UK site managers for his dedication to raising standards in house building.
Kirk Hardy, 37, who has been working for luxury housebuilder Homes by Carlton for more than two years, has been recognised in the NHBC’s Pride in the Job Awards 2022.
From a field of more than 8,000 site managers, Kirk is among 443 to have been honoured with a quality award. This represents the top 5% of those entered into the competition and is testament to their commitment to the delivery of top-quality new homes.
Pride in the Job, first launched more than 40 years ago, is the most highly regarded competition in the house-building industry and a prestigious benchmark for exceptional site managers.
Kirk, who has a trade background, joined Homes by Carlton as an assistant site manager shortly before the first covid lockdown in February 2020. Within 12 months he became site manager of the flagship Thorpe Paddocks housing development, at Thorpe Thewles, Tees Valley.
He said: “I love the job – taking a house from its foundations to completion and handing over to a happy client. It’s really satisfying. I was genuinely over the moon to get this award – ecstatic. The NHBC Pride in the Job award is highly regarded across the whole industry.”
Each site manager was assessed across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety. Thousands of site inspections and meticulous scoring and verification have taken place to decide the winners.
Simon Walker, MD of Homes by Carlton, said: “We’re delighted for Kirk and his whole team at Thorpe Paddocks. Kirk plays a vital role in ensuring new homes are delivered on time, on safe sites and to exacting construction quality standards.
“Kirk is relatively new to the sector but brings with him an attention to detail, a great sense of responsibility to do the job right and also a customer centric attitude that is second to none.”
