Meet the Neighbours: Sylvia and Rob at The Langtons

After having previously downsized, Sylvia and Rob missed having a more spacious home and fell in love with the show-stopping Bromley at The Langtons.

We were delighted to be welcomed into their beautiful home to see how they've made it their own, what they love about it and how they find living at The Langtons.

Q: What’s it like living at The Langtons in Redmarshall?

Sylvia: Location-wise we’re very happy. We’re not far from the main towns but still feel like we’re in a lovely rural village. It’s perfect for easy-access to the shops too, you can just nip to Sainsbury’s nearby or there’s also a little shop just down the road. We’ve also seen lots of wildlife here which we love. There’s a barn owl that’s become a regular fixture.

Rob: It’s very quiet here, you can’t really hear the road at all. The views are spectacular too.

Q: How is the area for walking your dog, Alfie?

Sylvia: It’s brilliant for dog walks. There’s a path that goes around the back of the development and there’s a wooded area with seating so it’s really nice.

Q: Why did you choose the 4-bedroom Bromley?

Sylvia: Well for a start it’s really spacious.

Rob: It’s also the use of the space that stood out. It’s one thing being big, but for example where other developer’s might have made this house a 5-bedroom, we have four large bedrooms that are well laid out and with the en-suites too. That’s what impressed us, as well as the kitchen/diner.

Sylvia: The kitchen/diner and living area works really well when you have friends and family over and there’s quite a lot of people, it’s a nice big space for entertaining. I also like the fact we’ve got the lounge which is completely separate. It’s nice to be able to escape from the kitchen area to chill out.

Rob: The house we lived in before was smaller and the layout just didn’t work as well. We had a kitchen/diner like we do here but the kitchen wasn’t big enough and the way they’d positioned the patio doors meant you didn’t have enough countertop space, whereas here they’ve used the space really well. We also love the brick work, the way they’ve used contrast colours.

Q: What's your favourite part of your home?

Rob: I think it would have to be the kitchen/diner and living area, that’s where we spend most of our time. It’s so adaptable. You can obviously cook and eat in there or just chill in the living area, and because it’s so big it doesn’t just feel like you’re sat in the kitchen.

Q: What did you think about your visits to our showhomes and viewhomes?

Sylvia: It really helped. We pretty much just copied the kitchen from the viewhome at Thorpe Paddocks, we went for the same colour and flooring because we could see it in front of us and knew it all went well together. It was helpful to be able to picture it all and also see what designs are current.

Q: How did you find the Homes by Carlton buying experience?

Rob: It was very good overall. In particular the Site Manager (Paul Fidgeon) was great and very helpful.

Sylvia: Paul really went above and beyond. For example we were unsure of how to get our landing light up with it being a galleried landing and he offered to help us with that – just lots of little things that he didn’t necessarily have to do.

Rob: It’s been a stark contrast to what we had with our last house. Although those houses were nice, the aftercare wasn’t too good. It was impossible to get a hold of their customer care.

Sylvia: Everyone we’ve dealt with at Homes by Carlton has been positive and helpful.

Q: Would you recommend Homes by Carlton?

Sylvia: Yes we would. I think your designs in particular are really nice. I’ve also noticed that you’re one of few housebuilders that are building bungalows and they look lovely. One of those in the right location could definitely be a consideration for us in the future.

Thank you Sylvia and Rob (and Alfie!) for being so welcoming and taking the time to show us around your beautiful home and share your experience.

There are just two homes remaining at The Langtons, The Alford (plot 9) and The Belford (plot 11). To book a viewing or to find out more, please call 0333 034 1355 or click here.
